Crafting African safaris with purpose

Africa Born believes in safaris that have a greater purpose. Our journeys are thoughtfully crafted to share Africa’s wild places, while also having a positive impact on local communities, environments and wildlife.

Preserving landscapes, wildlife & local communities

From exploring protected conservancies, to learning from rangers on the frontlines of wildlife conservation, to tracking iconic super tuskers with experts or supporting local schools and community initiatives, each safari with us is as meaningful as it is memorable.

Our mission

Sharing and preserving Africa’s people, wildlife & places

Our mission is to share the magic of Africa with our guests while ensuring that every journey contributes to preserving its people, wildlife and wild places. Through thoughtful practices and meaningful experiences, we inspire our guests to understand the importance of protecting the very wonders they come to see.

Supporting local conservation initiatives

To enable this, we partner with sustainable and conscious properties that support conservation efforts to protect endangered wildlife, as well as supporting local communities in terms of education, healthcare and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Our partners

At Africa Born, we dedicate a portion of our safari revenue to carefully selected community and conservation projects. We prioritise smaller, impactful projects that are close to our hearts as they play an essential role in the areas we visit. In this way, our guests have the unique chance to connect with and contribute to these efforts during their safari, leaving a lasting positive impact. Here are some of the incredible projects we support:

Tsavo Trust

Safeguarding Kenya’s largest conservation area

Tsavo Trust is a field-based, action-oriented conservation organisation working to secure and protect the Tsavo Conservation Area in Kenya. Africa Born guests can witness this incredible work firsthand, gaining insight into the project's positive impact on both people and elephants, including the iconic "Super Tuskers."

Local Ocean Conservation

Protecting Kenya’s marine environment

Founded 28 years ago by Paolo’s mother in Watamu on Kenya’s coast, Local Ocean Conservation is a small but impactful organisation committed to preserving Kenya’s marine ecosystems. The organisation’s flagship programme, Watamu Turtle Watch, began in 1997 to protect nesting sea turtles. It has since grown to include Diani Turtle Watch, bycatch release, beach profiling and a specialist rehabilitation centre for sick and injured sea turtles.

For Rangers

Supporting Africa’s wildlife rangers

The For Rangers team participates in some of the world’s toughest endurance events — such as ultra-marathons, kayak races, and horse races — to raise funds for the courageous men and women on the frontlines of wildlife protection. Their recent For Rangers Adventures initiative empowers safari-goers to make a meaningful impact through: 40% of the profit from these adventures goes directly to For Rangers' conservation efforts.
